An un-BELIEVE-able Event

On Sunday morning, Mom and I had the pleasure of being involved in a fantastic event, put on by our run club leader, and my running mentor, Rainy Kent.

The “Believe I Can” run was 50 women running 20kms together, wearing matching jingly skirts, buffs, having tequila shooters upon finishing, receiving amazing handmade jewelery, a delicious post run brunch, and delicious spiked blended chocolate martinis.

Does that sound like a normal run to you??

It shouldn’t, because it’s NOT.  It’s soooooo much better than any running event you’ve been to before!

Horseshoe Bay to Cleveland Dam Trail Run

On Saturday Cath and I attempted to run the 1st half of the KneeKnacker route, from Horseshoe Bay to Cleveland Dam (just below Grouse), along the Baden Powell.  We ran the 2nd half of the race route a few months ago, and I wrote about it here.

Last time, it was a beautiful sunny day, we stayed en route the entire time, didn’t get lost at all, and only had 1 short backtrack to re-fill our water at mid-way.

This time, we weren’t so lucky.

I’ve gone goofy

I have so many posts to write up, and so little time it feels like!

This past weekend was jam packed and filled with amazing-ness.  I ended up running about 50 kms, and feel so solid about the 7 + hours I spent running with some amazing women, which I will post more about later.

Right now, it’s time to talk about getting Goofy.

Huh? Let me explain…

Track Party Tuesday – de-stressing edition

Yesterday was a super frustrating day, with lots of things going wrong – stupid things like the Purolator website not working for booking shipments, a customer with a wrong address, just a bunch of little things that add up & drive you NUTS.

So, after work, Mom & I did a quick change, grabbed a small protein shake & headed to the track to meet Cathy.

Mom’s workout :

1 km warm-up

10 X 200 (200 hard push w/200 recovery)

1 km warm-down

= 6 km total in 36 mins

Cathy & I’s workout :

1 km warm-up

12 X 200 (200 hard push w/200 recovery)

1 km warm-down

= 7 km total in 37 mins

And let me tell you, this workout not only kicked our butts, but it replaced the stressful frustrating day, with BIG smiles!

PROOF :

So, take this lesson to heart.  If you are having a bad day, do something about it.  Get moving.  You don’t need to go to the track, but you do need to get off your butt – you will feel better, I promise!
