Monday was a bit of a wasted day…We got snagged by a fellow offering us a free helicopter ride over the Strip the following night, and free breakfast to go to a Wyndham Vacation Property tour. It was supposed to take 2 hours. It didn’t.
Anyways, we ended up heading to the helicopter tour in a limo, and then to MESA, a Bobby Flay restaurant for dinner, along with a long walk/wandering along the strip, before a nightcap drink (or two) with Nikki & her hubs Mike.
All in all, even with the day part wasted, we had a great overall day/night!
The helicopter ride was AWESOME! It was far too short, but everything exciting always is. I’m super glad we did the ride, although the “all you can drink champagne” was literally 1 small plastic cup during the short safety film. That’s it! Not even an offer for more. Cheapskates!
We were in a helicopter that fit 6 passengers in the back, 3 & 3 facing each other, and 1 solo passenger got to ride shot gun with the pilot. I wish I had been a solo just to get to do that!
Of course the iPhone pics don’t do it justice, but it gives you an idea :
After landing, we were dropped off at Excalibur, and decided to walk the Strip back to Casear’s where Mesa is located. I decided I needed to have 1 of those giant slushie drinks for the walk, while Jay chose the more practical choice of a beer.
We took our time along the walk, and checked out lots of cool shops and such.
We didn’t buy anything since we are cheap/poor, and everything is so over-priced, ie baby M&M onesie for $22? Sorry Blake…We did bring back these lovely picture memories :
Passing by a Starbucks, I realized it was a tough choice between coffee or booze? And I think I made the wrong choice…
By the time we got to Mesa, my tummy was feeling quite off. I’m not a cheap drunk, so I knew it wasn’t the booze, but I think it was the amount of sugar that was in that giant drink.
And, Jay failed to mention to me that Mesa is a very flavourful (read spicy) restaurant. I ordered a seafood dish, and it was good, but it was spicy, and I wasn’t able to fully enjoy it.
Jay ordered a pork tenderloin dish, and he absolutely loved it.
We ordered a couple of sides with our meals that were quite tasty as well.
After dinner, we headed to meet Nikki & Mike, who had dinner at Steak (Gordon Ramsey’s new-ish restaurant in Paris), to have a nightcap.
I was thinking we’d probably call it a night pretty quick because of my unhappy tummy, but thankfully, being outside in fresh air really helped, and before long I was feeling a lot better.
We had a couple drinks with N&M at a bar in Bellagio, before heading back to our hotel for our last sleep.
Before bed I made sure to remember to take a pic of the mirror above the bed. Jay couldn’t believe I put this on my facebook, but really, how funny is this?!
And that’s it for Day 3 in Vegas!
