For the month of November…
Confused? Let me explain…
November is a tough month. The weather can get really crappy. The rain can fall every single day. The calendar can fill up fast with “pre-holiday” festivities. And is it just me, but lots of friends are born in November too??
So, what’s a gal to do to keep motivated, inspired, and interested in staying active?
A running streak, that’s what!
Hilary, Candice and myself have decided to jump on Melissa’s streaking bandwagon for the month! Melissa took on the goal of running 5K every day in 2013. While I’m nowhere near ready to go for that goal, or even do a month of 5K’s, I am ready to try my first ever running streak.
Wanna join? Here’s the deets.
You must run a minimum of 3K every day in November.
That’s it. That’s the rules.
Sounds simple enough, right? I know there’s going to be days when I really don’t feel like getting up and going out in the ugly RainCouver weather. I know there’s going to be days when my 3K takes what feels like forever to complete. I know there’s definitely going to be some struggles. But, that’s the point of it.
Making a commitment to not only myself, but also to the internet, and most importantly to my friends that are making that commitment in turn to me.
Wondering why we didn’t do a 5K a day to join Melissa? Well, I don’t fully believe that running streaks are healthy (or maybe I just like to be 100% lazy on a rest day??). And with San Fran 50Miler coming up in just over a month (yikes), I don’t want to over-do it, but I do want to be on my feet more. So, I decided that starting with a 3K a day streak was a good compromise. Good starting point. I’ll definitely be keeping track of each day’s mileage and how I’m feeling, and keep you posted on how I feel about run streaking after this experiment. I’m open to the idea, and excited to see if it’s something that works for me.
So, here we go, we’re going streaking!!!! Starting Friday!!
Who’s joining us??
I’ve created a very basic (I’m just learning) Google doc so that everyone can follow along and enter their daily #’s – you can find it here.
