Coffee Break!

One of my favourite type of posts is the “if we were having coffee right now…” posts.  It’s an easy way for me to not have to write a full post about 1 thing, and be in line with my ADD tendencies when it comes to writing these days.  I get so easily distracted and pulled away from what I’m doing.  I feel like it happens at least 20 times a day.  I guess that’s a life and problems of a social media/event planner.

So, let’s have a coffee and chat…

If we were having a coffee right now, I’d tell you that yesterday we got some not-so-great news about Gram.  Turns out that when she fell she actually broke 2 bones in her pelvis.  So, that explains why she’s still in so much pain and moving so slowly 11 days after the fall.  It also gives us a bit of a time line on where we go from here, we’re looking at 6-8 weeks until she’s healed.  I know how she’s feeling, since I just went through the finding out you’ve broken a bone after the fact, and feeling totally helpless and just plain broken.  It’s not a fun feeling, and I hate seeing her in pain.  Sad face.

If we were having a coffee, I’d also tell you that earlier this year I picked up a couple more contracts, both for events, and for social media for running brands/companies.  I’m really enjoying both, and really jumping right in and having to learn to properly plan out my days and time.  I can easily work from 9am to 9pm, on all the different jobs I have.  It’s not out of the norm for me to be re-vamping a training plan for someone I’m coaching at 9pm, or scheduling posts for a brand’s Facebook page for the next night at 11pm.  And mornings seem to be all about phone meetings.  And for someone who isn’t great at phone meetings, that’s a challenge.  It’s also rather humorous to hear Bob the bird squaking in the background when I’m chatting with a client (my work desk is the dining room table…!)  Things are definitely very busy, but good busy and I’m enjoying it.  I’m making sure to also schedule in my running, and that’s definitely help keep me sane.

If we were having a coffee I’d tell you that we ran last night, on a weeknight, with the Ladies of the Trails, and we didn’t need headlamps!!!!  First Ladies run of 2015, and it was great!  Our Facebook group is up to almost 500 local Vancouver ladies, and that makes me so very proud!!!  To check out the group and runs, here’s the Facebook link.  And here’s a couple photos from last…

So great.

I’d also tell you that it rained yesterday and a bit this morning too, and we needed it.  Vancouver has been so dry and beautiful, and for the most part, I love it, but when push comes to shove, we do live in a rainforest, and our trails were way too dry for Feburary/March.

If we were having coffee right now, I’d tell you that my favourite little baby, Baby Theo turns 1 next Thursday!  How time flies when you’re having fun!  It’s been a great year of being around the little guy and I can’t wait to see what the next XX years of watching him grow brings us.

If we were having coffee right now I’d tell you that I’ve been struggling a lot with both my meal planning, prepping and all around eating.  Just failing at that right now.  Also failing at losing weight and feeling confident.  Sucks that those things go hand in hand.  Sucks.

I’d also tell you that we’re flying to Hawaii in only 19 short sleeps!!!  Which sucks on the swimsuit front, but rocks on the fun times and running trails in the Hawaiian sunshine front.  Candice, Mel, and I were shopping last night, and we each added a $6 Hawaiian beach hat to our wardrobes.  Excited to rock our matching hats on the beach, that’s for sure!

What else would I tell you?  That I am loving being back running!!  I haven’t gone farther/longer than the 32K/4.5 hours of Lord Hill a few weeks back.  My body recovered really well after the race, and it’s feeling really good.  No races for another month and a bit….April 25th Spring Rush!

And then I’d probably gush a bit about how gorgeous the weather has been in Vancouver, and all the great runs I’ve been doing, and how I love being back doing what I love.  You know, same same.  Actually last night during the Ladies run, a new girl and I were chatting, and she said to me “I finally feel like I found something that I not only love and feel at home doing, but also that I’m good at! I just love running on the trails and want to do it forever!”  Hahah, that’s basically me, in a nutshell.  LOVE hearing this from others, and being able to take them out on my trails for a little run around.  So good.

I’d probably be done my coffee around now, so I’ll let you get on with your day.  Have a GREAT FRIDAY!!!

What’s been up and happening with you lately?  What all would you share with me if we were having coffee today?

xoxo

Love these conversational posts! If I we were having coffee right now, I’d tell you to pass a ‘stay strong’ on to Gram, and that lat night was so fun. I can’t believe Lil T is almost one as well…although when I do the math that’s nearing 365 nights of interrupted sleep, in a row! That feels long…but goes to show that people can pull themselves through anything when they really have to;) Love that you love our little guy.

Loved having coffee with you this morning…. Getting caught up on grams, your runs, and later sunsets. Picture us having coffee in whtacom falls trails next to my house, with an off leash tezel tromping about in the light morning drizzle. And p.s I actually typing this and carrying my to-go mug :) life is good. So glad for your success in work and getting back into the running grove! Bought to meet Katrina and Renee after Renee’s Stewart mountain half this morning, for some extra miles. I am 8 days out from my first road half since 2013… Starting to taper and feeling strong! Xoxo jess
