Solid. I feel solid.

Well, CRAP.  This was supposed to post more than a week ago, but for some reason, it’s still sitting here.  Ah, technology, you jerk.  Anyways, nothing more has changed, I had ANOTHER solid weekend, this past weekend, with the girls.  Did 4 days of running, with 13 ladies, 4 dogs, and covered some 80kms.  BAM!!

So, let’s go back to the original post from last week…

It’s amazing what a few good training days does to a person.  I’ve had back to back SOLID training weekends the last 2 weekends, and I’m riding high.

Last weekend Saturday, I hit the North Shore trails for a ridiculously convoluted loopty-loop with Jenny with the aim of 5 hours.  We had a great run, and after tweaking our route a few times on the fly, we returned back to our cars at 5:01.  No joke.  Bam!

Then I headed over the border to visit Hotel Kim and go for a Sunday run in the Chuckanuts with Dana and Jessica. The plan was 4 hours, including a new trail, the Rock Trail that we had never run before.  Dana and I ran the first couple hours solo, and then with Jess joining us, we just keep on going and going.  Got back to our cars within minutes of another 5 hour adventure.  The entire day was EPIC.  The lighting, the trails, and the views, the company, it was just one of the best trail days I’ve had in a long time, it was just perfect.

10 hours for the weekend, I’ll take it!

I can’t not mention that I did have a not-so-great experience on Saturday post run, and that was that I used my gramma’s shower bathtub without a bathmat inside of it, and I slipped, fell backwards, out of the shower, and smacked the back of my head where the head and neck join on her porcelain sink.  OW.  Turns out a couple days later I had given myself some whiplash.

So, I took the week very easy, went to an RMT, stretched, avoided exercising, and thankfully by Friday I was feeling pretty much back to normal, so I headed out for a VERY wet run with Rachael and Dylan in our backyard trails.  2.5 hours of wet, sloppy, sketchy trails, awesome.

We were lucky enough to have visitors Friday and Saturday, and Jay and I headed out with Laura and Pascal for another wet run on Saturday.  I didn’t want to run in the rain.  But, it turned out to be a fabulous run, and I got to put another 2.5 hours in the bank.

Sunday came around, and Craig and I had a trail adventure planned for Squamish, and we decided to hit up a bunch of “new-to-us” trails.  The plan?  4+ hours.  The weather?  Looked horrid when we started, but surprisingly just got nicer and nicer as the day went on.  At the end of the day, we had covered 90% all new trails, and gone from Quest over to Smoke Bluffs where we called Jay for a ride home.  Another nice bonus of Squamish is that we ran for over 5 hours, but we were still less than a 10 min drive away.  There’s just that many great trails to run and explore!

Obviously we had to hot tub after as well.

2 great back to back weekends, 20 ish hours on the trails, and so many solid steps in the right direction for my training, my running, and to be right dab smack in the middle of my happy place.
