2015…so far…

The most common question I’m hearing nowadays among my runner friends is some version of what’s up for 2015?  Whether they’re asking about goal races, running trips, fun races/events, everyone is starting to think about their calendar.  It’s always hard to choose what to do, what to miss, and what’s most important.

I’m still not 100%, but I do feel like I’m on the way to being healed and running strongly.  So, in that positive thought process, I have registered for a few races.  Not too many, but here’s what’s on the calendar, thus far.  Bold means registered, italic means I’m working it, and regular font means I’m thinking about it.

Day 4, The Procrastination Enemy.

I had a coffee/breakfast meeting this am, and I could’ve got up early and ran beforehand, or I could’ve run after before getting to work.  I had plans with Cathy and Theo for a stroller run, but I could’ve done a double.  Cath had to bail, and it was sunny outside, I could’ve gone for my run as soon as I heard.  But, I didn’t.  I procrastinated the shit out of today.  And when I finally got my shoes and buff on, it was raining.  Duh, of course it was raining, that’s what happens when you let the procrastination monster rule your life.

Grrrrrrrr.

But, here’s the good news, I got out the door, Nikita and I hit the pavement, and we got it done.  And once we got out there and moving, despite the rain and cold, and snow turning to slush factor, we went longer than planned, putting another 6K in the bank.

And that my friends is WHY the 2K a day works.

Day 2 – Playing with Nikita

Yesterday was Day 2 of the #BeastStreak and in actuality, it was Day 4 of my runstreak, since I ran Saturday and Sunday before deciding to do a December streak.  It wasn’t easy to get myself out the door, but I asked Nikita if she wanted to go in the woods, and she was gungho, so we (me) decided to head into our local woods for a quick little romp.

How’s my month been?

December was all about my big race of the year.  It was all that mattered this month, getting through the race safely and without injuries, and then recovering the rest of the month.  And I’d like to say that I pretty much excelled at these tasks and leaving December, and 2013, I feel pretty darn good.

November was a great month for the most part.  It was a hard month because it was our November Streaking Challenge, and so I had to run a minimum of 5K every day.  But, I succeeded, and I do feel like after a bit of rest after 31 straight days of running, I will be stronger from this experiment.

Happy Halloween 5K

I’m lucky I have a Momma bear that is also a victim of my favorite concept, FOMO.  Like mother, like daughter.  This afternoon after work, I decided I wanted to go for a little neighborhood run to check out the Halloween sights.  I asked her a couple times but she wasn’t really budging, until I came upstairs….in costume!  I had bought a Superman tank at Walmart last month, paired it on top of a lulu long sleeve, and added my red tutu for some style and class!  After a short whine about not having a costume, she was sold when I brought out an easy outfit for her – grass skirt and lei!  And there you have it, FOMO strikes again!

How’s my month been?

This year is just flying by!  It was a good LIFE month with Weddings, and Vacay, and a big Birthday party.  It was a fun month, a busy month, but not an ideal “training” month.  I guess we could call it a stepback month, but that’s kind of crappy going into my next 50K ultra this weekend.

How’s my month been?

Gosh. July has been a roller coaster of a month.  There is no other way to explain it.  It’s been a struggle all around, but particularly because I didn’t want to or expect to go into KneeKnacker with an injury and a head cold (obviously), and it really affected me leading up to, on race day, and in my recovery after as well.  BUT, we’re on the upswing heading into August, and I’m feeling positive.
