Last weekend I also ran in the inaugural Surrey International World Music Marathon, on Sunday. Yes, I did a Half Goofy on the weekend.
The short version :
The SIWMM 2012 was a fantastic event on a beautiful day, and they exceeded my expectations for a first time race! Everyone I know, really enjoyed the course, had a great run, and would definitely consider running the race again next year. I personally ran my fastest, and funnest half marathon, so far in my “running career”.
Spoiler alert : I finished in 1:47:29, which is a 7 min PR for me!!
Now, for those of you who want to read the long version, here it is :
Well, to start off, I have to say that I had a blast! This race was a ton of fun, and even though it took most people 3-6 hours, almost everyone finished with a huge smile on their face, great memories, and a feeling of accomplishment!
Team Warrior Mentality at the start
Does that mean that this is the “toughest event on the planet?”
Yesterday after work, Cath and I headed to the local playground to do a Tough Mudder XFit type workout.
We choose a hill that was about 150 m from bottom to top, and had a decent steepness to it. We jogged to the bottom, and started from there. We did a hard push up the hill, and then did 10 push-ups, and jogged back down to the bottom. We repeated this 10 times.
I can’t believe May is *almost* over!! I didn’t do my weekly training logs, this month was relatively low in the training aspect, I focused on recovering from the BMO Vancouver Marathon on May 6th before getting back into HC workouts.
I’ve been debating back and forth on registering for a Run the North Shore event this Sunday. There are 2 routes, the longer is somewhere between 20-25 kms (Iron Knee), and the shorter route is around 12 kms (Tender Knee). The course is almost all downhill, with a killer hill thrown in for fun!
